The kit includes Heidelberg SM74 6 Colour Press with Coater, three Polar guillotines, two Heidelberg ST300 stitching lines, two Heidelberg Cylinders S lines (1020 size), and five folding machines from Heidelberg, Stahl and MBO, a Horizon perfect binding line and a Horizon stitching line. In charge of the auction is print and packaging specialist auctioneer at National Auctioneers & Valuers, Peter Brand, who says there is upward of a million dollars worth of equipment ready to start work again. He says, “There are lots of good machines and everybody knows Ability Press and the kind of work they did, so we are expecting a big turnout. “Already more than 100 companies locally have showed interest, and since the dollar is low it has also encouraged overseas buyers. We have had a number of foreign print companies also contacting us.” The auction starts at 11am on Thursday, September 10 at 25-27 Olive Grove, Keysborough, Victoria, but printers can start viewing at 8am. The $50m merger of Docklands Press, Ability Press, Mercedes Waratah and M&M Binders was made public in July, and last week the move to the 10000sqm Port Melbourne site took place. The new business is named Docklands Ability Group (DAG).
