AFL stars and TV personality to attend Ricky Bannister fundraiser

The plight of ex-Heidelberg man Ricky Bannister has been shared with Australia ahead of a star-studded fundraising dinner.

Foxtel program AFL 360 devoted a segment last week to Bannister, who is the brother of former AFL player and umpire Jordan Bannister.

Jordan revealed that his brother had recently celebrated the birth of his first child, five months after he broke his neck in a horse riding accident that left him a quadriplegic.

A fundraiser will be held at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on 15 November. The $195-per-head event will be hosted by TV personality Stephen Quartermain and will be attended by AFL players.

The organisers said all proceeds will directly aid Bannister's recovery, including renovations to the family home and the purchase of a wheelchair access vehicle. Click here for more information.

A Heidelberg fundraiser in August raised almost $55,000.
