Agfa launches high production Anapurna M2

The new machine is being pitched at printers wanting to couple heavy workloads with quality output and offers a significant increase in print speeds over previous Anapurna models.

The latest wide-format machine is being targeted at screen printers as well as those in sign shop and commercial printer markets.

Steve Collins, product manager of wide-format inkjet at Agfa, said: “Speed is paramount. Customers want their work done yesterday and the new Anapurna M2 couples high speeds with quality output.”

Agfa’s M2 can print onto a maximum media width of 1.6m and incorporates six Konica-Minolta 12 picoliter print heads, which offer resolutions of 720 x 1440dpi.

The wide format UV printer can operate in 8 pass uni-directional mode, which delivers photo quality prints, although a maximum productivity of 23sqm per hour is achieved in its 4 pass bi-directional mode.

In addition to handling roll-to-roll and rigid substrates, the Anapurna features automated media registration, which is claimed to aid straightforward media loading.

Willy Van Dromme, business line manager for wide format at Agfa Graphics, said the Anapurna M2 “is built to be robust with industrial strength. It is the high throughput UV-ink printer of choice for heavy workloads and peak performance with top quality.”
