Aldus-Tronics purchases Astor

Label and packaging equipment supplier Aldus-Tronics have purchased Milford Astor Group, bringing the Australian-manufactured foiling specialists under their banner.

Customers of the Milford Astor Group have already received notification of the sale, in which ex-owner Terry Newman says, “I will remain the CEO until my replacement settles in, at which time I have agreed with Aldus-Tronics to carry on developing the exports of the stamping foil that is manufactured in our Melbourne plant.  All staff have agreed to become employees of Aldus-Tronics and for the foreseeable future, other than myself, there will be no changes to the operations or locations.

“As a business owner I realise that people, whether they be the suppliers, staff or customers are the main key to the success of a company. Therefore, I would like to THANK YOU, for playing your part in ensuring that the core of these operations, that started in 1954 will continue to progress under the Aldus-Tronics banner.”

Australian Printer contacted Newman, and Aldus-Tronics head Frank Floriano for more information around the deal, but did not get a response from Floriano prior to publishing.

Speaking to Australian Printer, Newman says, “I think it is a very good move for all parties concerned, including the employees.”

The sale of the business is to be made official on March 1.

Aldus-Tronics currently sell Mark Andy flexographic presses in Australia, the latest of which is its Performance Series platform, and the Digital Series HD, both of which were exhibited at Labelexpo late last year. The dual analogue/digital set-ups offer the speed and reliability of offset with the variable data of digital, according to the company.
