Blue Star signs $6m print management deal to print Job Guides

Executive general manager Matt Aitken told ProPrint that Blue Star had been handling “all of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations’ (DEEWR) print requirements since 1994”.

“The value is approximately $6 million per annum and it is a new multi-year contract that we have signed,” he said.

“Job Guides is just one – albeit a big one – of many thousands of jobs that we do every year for DEEWR.

“In conjunction with our immigration contract, we are seeing a range of Federal government departments in Canberra showing strong interest in our solutions and service offer.”

The contract renewal was signed in January “after a competitive market tender process through the latter part of last year”, Aitken said.

A DEEWR spokesperson told ProPrint that Blue Star offered the “best overall value for money and highest service levels”, although she wouldn’t reveal how many other companies had tendered.

The Job Guide is distributed each year to all Year 10 students, according to DEEWR.

  1. I must question the Australian goverments decision as to why they have given this contract to a NZ company??

  2. I can think of many questions in regard to this decision. It has left people scatching their heads and wondering about the process and transparency (or lack there of).

  3. Surely all or at least the great majority of the staff are Australian and the work is performed in Australia even if the company is NZ.
