Colorado UVgel scores seven certifications

The innovative Océ UVgel ink technology used for the Colorado 1640 has been proven safe by seven environmental tests.

The Océ Colorado 1640, UVgel and its applications are now validated as meeting the criteria for seven major indoor certifications that test for harmful compounds, emissions and odours in large-format products. Together, these certifications make up some of the most stringent criteria and safety considerations for chemical emissions.

Garry Muratore, product manager, Graphic Arts Markets, Océ says, “This places the Océ UVgel technology and the Océ Colorado 1640 in an elite group of companies whose products can safely be used in sensitive environments such as hospitals and schools.

“The prints are also judged odourless, which is essential for environments such as restaurants and supermarkets. Colorado customers can supply prints with absolute confidence into such environments. It is another tick in the box for compliance in critical applications.”

The certifications obtained include:

AgBB, which evaluates volatile organic compounds in building materials for indoor use;

Greenguard Gold, for low chemical emissions into indoor air during product usage;

EN15102:2007 Decorative wall coverings, which covers mechanical strength, safety in case of fire and sustainability. CE marking according to this new regulation on wall coverings is mandatory in Europe since 2013;

Odor, the UVgel is judged odorless according to DIN EN ISO 16000-28 i.A., VDI 4302 by a 3rd party testing agency, and free of VCL (vinylcaprolactam);

A+ Émissions dans l’air intérieur, the top label for this mandatory classification for wall coverings sold on the French market;

M1 – Emission Classification of Building Materials, the top label of this Finnish certification scheme, which includes a 28-day emission and odor test;

Océ says its first customers are now enjoying safe, high-productivity image quality.

Muratore says, “Received under great acclaim at events such as Fespa, ISA and last year’s PacPrint in Melbourne, the Océ Colorado 1640 is designed for unprecedented productivity, segment-leading image quality and an ever-increasing application range, at the lowest operating cost.”

The Colorado 1640 has been awarded the SGIA 2017 Product of the Year Award for ‘RTR/Hybrid/Flatbed New Technology or Ink-set.

The Colorado and its Océ UVgel ink technology join Océ’s Arizona range and supporting ink-sets (IJC156, IJC255, IJC256, IJC257, IJC258, IJC261 and IJC262), which were granted Greenguard Gold certification in August last year.

Océ is owned by Canon, and sells the company’s graphic arts equipment. The Australian location was formally opened earlier this year.
