Digital finishing at The Bindery

The Bindery has installed a new digital perfect binder to slash turnaround times and provide a wider range of services to printers.

Australia’s biggest finishing house has just brought the country’s first Duplo Ultrabind 6000 PUR binder online, boasting five minute makeready and big time savings.

Naresh Gulati, chief executive of parents company OCA Group, says it can handle a wide range of work including three crease covers and inners up to 350gsm along with photobooks, postcards, and catalogues.

“It will save printers lots of time as it can do small runs quicker than ever before,” he says.

The Ultrabind 6000 works for work printed on digital or coated paper, including UV printed jobs.

Gulati says OCA has been automating processes across the group, which includes Rooster IMC, with the aim of cutting costs, improving efficiency and shortening turnaround for trade clients.

“People want print delivered yesterday for better prices, so we are making big investments to do that,” he says.
