Former ACP print buyer becomes general manager of Digitalpress

Connor spent five years as procurement manager for production services at the publishing giant, where she managed the team that handled all the ancillary print “in, on and around the magazines”.

Before that, she spent 17 years as co-owner of Chatswood, Sydney-based offset company Justinprint.

She told ProPrint she was “confident and enthusiastic and passionate” about the new role, and was a good fit with Digitalpress managing director Theo Pettaras.

“I am already implementing some changes to improve productivity as well as developing some new contracts and negotiating pricing with suppliers,” she said.

She added that her experience in sheetfed and web would still prove useful at such a “progressive, innovative company in the digital space”.

“I have found the grey area between sheetfed and digital has grown immeasurably. There was once a clear distinction between the two but there is now not so much of a distinction. The sheetfed market is contracting as fast as the digital market is expanding.”

Theo Pettaras said: “I’ve known Jackie for a number of years now and have a great deal of respect for her.”

He said the hiring decision to appoint Jackie Connor was a “lightbulb moment” when he realised she could help him take Digitalpress “to the next phase”.

“The mandate for Jackie as general manager is to help in ensuring that systems are in place, improve on the existing systems and look at ways to grow and develop the business,” he said.

“We expect to double our business in two years,” he added.
