Fuji Xerox helps Sydney direct mailer achieve ‘precision colour results’

Sydney-based mmw3degrees had found it difficult to calibrate the outputs of its highly automated Xerox iGen4 and older iGen3, said chief operating officer Adam Moore.

“It is essential for our clients’ branding consistency that colours are precise,” he said.

“On past printing jobs when a colour sheet or Pantone colour wasn’t provided by the client, it was difficult to guarantee an exact colour match.”

The 100-person operation, formerly known as Mail Marketing Works, sought help from Fuji Xerox Australia, which suggested its Colour Managed Workflow Solution, powered by Oris.

The software, which is developed by German firm CGS, includes Oris Press Matcher Web, which aims to automatically colour manage files so that every job is accurate and repeatable.

“It has made a remarkable difference, particularly with the finer image details,” said Moore.

“Oris has enabled us to print test sheets that measure the output of both printers to ensure that we’re achieving precision results on a daily basis… We can now be 100% certain that all printing at proof stage is correct, whereas previously there was no way of determining the accuracy,” added Moore.

“These days, when clients complete their own proofing on inkjet, I’ve found our production to be an exceptionally close match.”
