Geon boosts quoting speed as first local user of automation tool Brightblue

The trans-Tasman group invested in the Brightblue software nine months ago and spent six months implementing the tool across its Australian operations.

Tony Onsley, Geon’s executive general manager for strategy and growth, said: “Geon Group’s implementation of Brightblue is designed to improve our speed to market and overall levels of customer satisfaction.

“The ability to get quotes to customers in a timely fashion is critical. Our adoption of this automated tool is proving very useful and as we finalise our implementation, the indications are that this is a real benefit to both our customers and the efficiency of our sales staff.”

Brightblue was first launched into the local market at PacPrint 2009. It is a “route-based” estimation system that takes into account a print shop’s capabilities so that the “optimal method of working gets calculated for every job”.

Mark Wragg, chief executive of UK-based Brightblue, said: “Our power is based on creating a highly accurate model of a printers’ capabilities and production preferences.

“Then we calculate every imposition, on every sheet size for every press and press combination. Simultaneously, with the many options for bindery operations – be they in-house or outworked – we will choose the most efficient approach.”

He called the software “an industrial-strength solution”.

“Other specialist print pricing tools often only provide ballpark figures or tackle simple jobs, while estimating wizards or templates found in most MIS soon become inaccurate when pushed outside their designed product boundaries or require professional estimators for more complex jobs,” added Wragg.

Brightblue is offered via a software-as-a-service (Saas) model, meaning there is no capital outlay and it just requires a web browser to access.
