Govt invites tenders for five-year, multimillion contract

The Federal government has requested tenders as it looks for a single supplier to produce 12 million personalised cards per year.

The five-year contract covers the printing and posting of Medicare cards, veterans cards, seniors health cards and pensioner cards for the Department of Human Services.

According to the department, it currently produces 11.7 million plastic cards per year at a cost of $3 million.

Seniors and pensioners cards will have to be printed and posted within 48 hours. Medicare cards will have to be despatched within 72 hours, although suppliers will have to achieve urgent 24-hour turnarounds when required.

The successful tenderer will have invoices paid within 30 days. The contract includes a guaranteed two-year period and three one-year options.
