‘Lack of knowledge’ hindering printers’ eco efforts

The company questioned printers at trade exhibitions over the summer and also found that 19% believed a lack of time was a hindrance to becoming greener, with 23% saying that cost was a key barrier.

However, the research found all businesses surveyed were committed to improving their eco-credentials, despite an economic slowdown, and 84% said they could update their green practices. 

TDG Print Management managing director Tom Gorman claimed that education and availability of relevant information was still lacking among the business community.

He said: “We intend to use this research as a starting point to identify what other valuable tools and resources we can develop for clients and their marketing teams.

“The economy is forcing all businesses to re-evaluate budgets, but while climate issues remain high on the agenda, marketers have to find their tipping point, achieving CSR objectives without creating financial mayhem.”

TDG Print Management has also launched its Green Audit this year, which advises clients including the Body Shop and TNT on commercial success and responsible print management.
