Lagoon creature wrap wins Avery Dennison comp

Avery Dennison has selected the international winner of its Wrap Like a King competition, with the top prize going to MetroWrapz of the USA, for its ‘Creature from the Wrap Lagoon’ piece.

The wrap inspired by the 1954 film of the same name, with the team using the Avery Dennison Conform Chrome Silver Film with DOL 1370 Lustre laminate to create a chilling, realistic shiny silky skin, enhanced by amphibian hues of yellow and green to transform a 2017 Acura NSX.

Avery Dennison Supreme Wrapping Film ColorFlow Series in Gloss Fresh Spring added a finishing touch to the wheels, and rippling swamp water was placed along the rocker panels, putting the startling new creature into its natural habitat. MetroWrapz added accents of red reflective, and a custom-cut acrylic dorsal fin on the roof.

The winner beat out the continent finalist for Australia/New Zealand, South-Australian company Winguard Paint Protection Specialists, for its wrap below, a 2014 Porsche 911.

Jordan Leach, Senior Business Manager, Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions, Australia & New Zealand said: “Congratulations to MetroWrapz for winning the Global Wrap King title! The team did an outstanding job with our materials to create an awe-inspiring design. Their passion and commitment to their craft inspire Avery Dennison to continue to deliver high-quality innovative materials for wrap installers around the world.”

Peter Wright, Avery Dennison Technical Marketing Manager, Australia/New Zealand, represented ANZ on the judging panel.

The “King of the WrapWorld” award received 155 entries from around the world. All entries were judged based on the difference between the before and after pictures, installation skill and quality, overall look and appeal, and uniqueness.
