Well known finisher The Laminating Company invested in a Bobst VisionFoil 104 combination diecutter and hot-foil stamper. David Rogers, who heads up TLC’s NSW division, said the new technology will enable the company to upgrade to large-format automated foiling. “We bought the most flexible machine we could to give us the greatest chance of satisfying our clients’ needs. The foil stamping is another step in our print finishing service. We already offer laminating, varnishing and spot-varnishing. The next step now is big-format embossing, foiling, cutting and creasing. It’s a natural progression for us.

“If we did nothing, we knew 100 per cent that long-term, the business was going to die. But buying this machine pushes us into new territories and new opportunities.”

Meanwhile, Labelcraft has bought a Bobst SP Evoline 102 Autoplaten diecutter, which Gilberthorpe described as “an entry-level machine, particularly for sheetfed printers. It’s interesting how many sheetfed printers have come on the stand showing interest in an affordable diecutter,” he said.

“This acquisition will further enhance our output,” said Labelcraft’s Ian Dixon (pictured, left). “It will streamline our operations. It’s the next stage for the LabelCraft Group in expanding its manufacturing facilities and servicing the packaging needs of our customers.”

A Palomides automatic folder/stacker, which adds efficiency to the bindery, has been sold to PrintLinx in Port Melbourne.
