Nothing to change for Kongsberg A/NZ customers: Stuart Fox

There are currently over 250 Kongsberg cutters spread across Australia and New Zealand and printers have been reassured that nothing will change despite Esko’s sale of the company to a private equity firm.

The sale to OpenGate Capital, which was confirmed last week, means Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) will now operate as a standalone business.

Kongsberg PCS President, Stuart Fox, has moved to reassure Australian and New Zealand customers that the change of ownership will have no impact on sales and service support provided by the company.

“We have around 250 tables in action in Australia and New Zealand. Sales, service, consumables and spare parts will all continue as usual,” Fox told Sprinter.

“Our customers will continue to receive the same level of service from our team and expect business as usual. They can be reassured they will recognise not just many faces but also the quality of service they receive, and that they will continue to receive the same professional and passionate assistance from our incredibly dedicated team.”

Business as usual

Fox went on to say it will be “business as usual” for Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems.

“For Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems, it is ‘business as usual’, and we will continue to sell our entire range of equipment, from our renowned digital finishing tables and additional automated solutions through to latest innovations such as our recently-launched VariAngle tool,” Fox said.

“We will continue investing in our table technology, and in the coming months we will be showcasing the latest developments with our automation solutions.”

Kongsberg was founded in Norway in 1965 and was purchased by Esko, then Barco, in 1988.

Last December, Esko agreed to sell the business to OpenGate Capital. The acquisition is now completed and includes the original research and development facility in Kongsberg, Norway and the production facility in Brno, Czech Republic.

The new business, Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems, now employs 400 former Esko employees operating from the business’ original research and development facility in Kongsberg, Norway, the production facility in Brno, Czech Republic, a new headquarters in Gent, Belgium as well as other global locations.

Mattias Byström, President of Pantone, Esko and X-Rite, said: “This sale enables both Esko and Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems to develop their own strategic directions.

“Under the leadership of Stuart Fox, we’re sure Kongsberg Precision Cutting has exciting times ahead. We wish the team the very best for the future.”
