NSW govt firms up buying strategy with panel of print managers

The tender is being run by the State Contracts Control Board. A government spokesperson would not reveal the names of the successful print managers to ProPrint because “contracting the panel is due to finish in late March 2011”.

However, ProPrint has been given unconfirmed information that of the seven companies who bid for the work, only one, Moore Australasia, was not appointed to the panel.

According to the government spokesperson: “Future contract users include NSW government agencies, state-owned corporations and eligible non-government organisations.

“Eligible customers can engage print management services from a company on the panel using the pre-negotiated rates established in the contract. Customers can also undertake a competitive request for quotes with suppliers on the panel for defined commitments.”

The contract is worth just $2m per year to the PM panel, though the government’s actual print spend is many times this. It is believed that the government model is heading toward choosing a panel of print suppliers similar to the Federal government model.

The NSW government is also running a tender for print warehousing and distribution services. The companies that have bid for the work are Blue Star, E-Bisprint, Fleets Flyers, Foxprint Solutions, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Australia, Salmat Businessforce and Toll Transport.
