Océ launches a “world first” MFP

The Dutch vendor said the ColorWave 300 is “the world’s first single footprint multifunctional device”, and can produce wide-format documents in colour as well as black and white.

According to Océ Australia, the machine will allow companies to combine two different purchases into one, freeing up floor space usually reserved for a second machine.

The ColorWave 300 covers 1.5sqm, including the printer, scanner and delivery tray. Product manager Olya Yemchenko described it as the “lowest operational floor space in the industry for a color system”.

Architecture, engineering and construction firms are seen as the MFP’s chief markets, though Yemchenko also said it targeted commercial printers.

“Commercial printers are increasingly expanding their product offering to include new services such as plan printing. The ColorWave 300 is an attractive option for reprographers who can produce wide format B&W and colour output on a single system,” she said.

“Furthermore, users can scan to and print directly from a USB device at the printer. This is ideal for walk-up customers who need a job done quickly,” she added.

The ColorWave 300 is has been given a global commercial release, with the first Australian installation expected to take place this quarter.

The 600dpi system prints on media from 56gsm up to 175gsm, including uncoated, recycled, coated, transparent, and photo papers. Its output width is 279mm to 914mm, with an output length of 210mm to 45m.
