Oce to unveil Colorstream 3700 at Drupa

Océ’s new printer offers a process speed of 100m/minute and is 43% faster than the 3500, which prints at 70m/minute. It will be commercially available in the second half of the year.

The Colorstream 3700 will be the third new press launched by Océ in 2012 following earlier announcements about the launch of the Jetstream 1900 and 4300 models.

Océ is to demonstrate the 3700, along with a full finishing solution, at its Drupa stand. The company has not  confirmed a list price for the new machine but has given an estimate of around €2 million ($2.4 million).

Printers will be able to upgrade from a Colorstream 3500 press to the latest 3700 model.

Océ is also holding an open house event at its 4,000sqm showroom in Poing, from 7-11 May, where it will show six lines in full production, including its Jetstream 4300 press alongside a Manroland book folder.

It hopes that printers that are attending Drupa will be persuaded to take a side trip to Poing, which is a one hour flight from Dusseldorf.

Speaking at a PrintCity event in Munich, Océ’s director of marketing for continuous feed printers, Roland Stasiczek said: “In 2012 we will launch three new models – the 1900 and the 4300 and the 3700.

“We believe that these three models will further accelerate the transition from toner to inkjet and from mono to colour.

“The 3700 is more than 30% faster than its closest competitors and prints at a comparable quality.”

Stasiczek predicted that an important issue Drupa 2012 would  be the “industrialisation” of digital print.

“Digital print will have reached a new level through product enhancements; it can now be used to print high volumes and it can reach a greater number of applications,” He said.
