Oce unveils ColorStream 3500

The machine, which will be available from mid-2011, was launched at the Tokyo edition of the Canon Expo last week.

The ColorStream 3500 is being targeted at customers involved in the production of statements, direct mail, books and manuals.

Océ’s new engine can print up to 1,000 A4 pages per minute and can be configured in a basic black and white model up to a full-colour iteration.

According to Océ, the 3500 system can output up to 12 millon A4 pages a month in a single engine configuration and double that on a dual setup.

The machine can print up to 75 metres per minute with a print width of 540mm, equal to 505 A4-sized pages each minute on a single unit and 1,010 A4 on a double machine.

Herbert Kieleithner, Océ Australia marketing manager for production printing, described the machine as “a product for its time”.

“The system future-proofs users by allowing for the transition from existing business patterns to more sophisticated documents with complete personalisation and the addition of colour,” he said.

“In addition to normal CMYK printing, users can choose from a combination of specialty inks, including MICR, to support the widest range of business opportunities.”
