Océ uses Ipex to launch CS6400 printer series

The Netherlands-based firm is using this week’s Ipex event to launch the CS6400 Series and will be demonstrating the CS6407 model at its stand at the Birmingham NEC.

The CS6400 Series comprises two models: the 190cm-wide CS6407 and the 264cm-wide CS6410. Both operate in four-colour mode or eight-colour mode at print speeds of up to 100sqm per hour.

The printers use high frequency printheads with multi-drop technology, which can be configured in two ways – 2×4 mode (CMYK), with four colours and two heads per colour for maximum print speed; or 1×8 mode (CMYK plus grey, light grey, Lc and Lm) with eight colours and one colour per head for superior print quality.

The four-colour mode reaches speeds of up to 100sqm per hour, while the eight-colour mode can attain speeds of up to 50sqm per hour.

The CS6400 series uses Smart Pass technology to ensure smooth and band-free prints by optimising pass-to-pass dot placement and alignment.

Océ said that the four-colour mode is ideal for printing outdoor banners. The eight-colour mode adds light grey, light magenta and light cyan ink for smooth colour transitions – which the company says is well-suited to printing light shadows and metallic textures.

The 6400 Series detects the thickness of the loaded media and adjusts the printhead height accordingly. It features 1.5L ink reservoirs and a sub-tank system for on-the-fly ink changes.
