Online print buying service launches in Oz

Toast Print, the work of Jonathan and Andrew Chak, is intended to help print buyers streamline the process of finding the right printer, better organise print jobs, and compare printers and quotations.

More than 200 SME commercial printers have already signed up to the site since its ‘soft launch’ at the start of February.

“The printer/designer relationship has long been based on trust and referral. Toast Print takes this trust model to the web and helps printers establish an online presence and reputation,” said Jonathan Chak.

“For designers, it means that they can finally look for a commercial printer online, knowing that there will be a good indication of the printers’ capabilities, print quality and credibility among the design community.

“Previously this could not be achieved via traditional directory listings such as Yellow Pages,” he added.

The website also utilises a web 2.0-style platform for feedback, with designers encouraged to provide ratings and notes on the printers they have done business with.

The Chak brothers are the founders of Sydney-based web development and design company, the S3 Group.
