Paper Rolls secures FSC and PEFC badges

The manufacturer said it could now guarantee its stock came from “well-managed forests and controlled non-controversial sources” after being endorsed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Using certified paper can make products more expensive, but any premiums are “usually very minimal”, according to the company, which is part of the Lamson Paragon Group along with Cheque-Mates.

“Paper Rolls Australia strives to maintain the lowest possible prices on certified paper rolls and, wherever possible, absorb any additional costs to enable us to provide quality certified paper rolls to our customers who choose them,” it said.

“An important fact to note is that price differences are often the result of illegal logging teams bypassing legal channels and undercutting prices for timber sourced from controlled forests and thus creating an unbalanced and unfair advantage.

“Paying minimally higher prices for certified paper rolls, however, can mean maximum benefits to the environment.”

Paper Rolls said it would have to pass stringent annual audits to retain its FSC and PEFC certification.
