Pemara sells to Austrian flexibles giant

One of Australia’s most successful labels businesses Pemara has been acquired by Austrian flexibles company Constantia. The sale comes 39 years after Peter Macnamara founded the iconic business, which has gone on to open production centres in Melbourne, Kuala Lumpar, Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh city. The price Constantia paid is undisclosed, and the deal is expected to take a few months to go through. All of Pemera’s current management and staff will stay with the business. Pemara achieved sales of approximately $45m in the financial year ended June 2015 and currently has more than 300 employees. Andrew McNamara, group managing director of Pemara says, “Pemara is delighted to be joining Constantia Flexibles. We have been searching for a strong global partner, and believe we have found a great match with Constantia Flexibles’ Labels division.

The Labels Division has annual revenues of more than Euro500m and supplies more than 1,000 global customers, including multinational corporations and local market leaders. It operates nineteen production facilities on four continents, and has more than 2,000 employees focused on providing innovative labeling solutions. Pemara is Constantia Flexibles’ second acquisition in 2015 following the acquisition of Afripack in South Africa, which is expected to close in the coming weeks.
