Print Media Group wins $5m contract, installs “top-spec” Indigo 7600

Print Media Group has double reason to celebrate after winning a $5 million contract and installing an HP Indigo 7600.

PMG won a three-year contract to supply printed passport application forms to the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade. It started on 1 October.

The department valued the contract at $5 million, but declined to reveal the volumes involved.

Meanwhile, the group revealed that it had installed a "top-spec" Indigo 7600 at its Melbourne headquarters.

PMG said the new press would expand its digital and direct mail offering.

The Indigo 7600 was launched at Drupa 2012 and can print up to 7,200 sheets per hour in four-colour mode and 14,400 sheets in two-colour mode.

"The new machine offers improved response times for clients, with breakthrough speed and market-leading quality," according to PMG.

"With the main growth area in the industry being short-run digital, the new press should appeal to our mix of clients, their designers and agencies.

"New special effect capabilities, including raised print and textured effects, expand opportunities for clients in delivering standout communications materials. The machine can handle the widest range of substrates up to very thick board, and can print on plastics and synthetics. The versatility is unrivalled in the market."
