Q&A: Luke Pearsall, Active Mail

Tell us a little about your family

I have a beautiful wife and two little girls, three years and two years old.

Why did you get into the industry?

I was 19 years old and getting terrible pay for client service work in a different industry. A friend’s wife was working at Security Mail and asked me to come across – little did I know what I was getting myself into!

What is your favourite phrase?

Slow down, turbo.

What would be your dream job?

Running a back-country cat-ski lodge in British Columbia.

Which superpower would you like?

Super fitness.

What TV show are you watching?

Season five of Californication.

What was your childhood obsession?

Visiting Nan and Pop’s on the south coast to spend the summer surfing and fishing.

What’s one of the biggest stuff-ups you’ve made in your career?

To be brutally honest, I haven’t had anything major happen. I am pretty much an obsessive compulsive when it comes to quality and things going out right. I’m constantly buzzing around the shopfloor to make sure everything is OK.

If your house was on fire, what three things would you rescue?

Ski boots, hard drive with all of our photos and my swag to sleep in.

What really makes your blood boil?

Laziness, poor customer service, lack of attention to detail and low care factor about your job.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?

A policeman.
