Q&A: Zita Watkin, Active Display Group

The marketing manager of Active Display Group is a self-confessed lover of manufacturing, printing and marketing. She says she would love to imagine an iconic product that everybody wants or has to have, then design it, make it, market it and sell millions.

What is your favourite phrase?

No regrets. It’s so simple, but keep it in mind so I think twice about my actions.

Which superpower would you like?

It’s got to be flying, really high and fast.

Who or what makes you laugh?

I love a giggle. Pretty much anything sets me off.

What was your childhood obsession?

I was a big collector of Barbie dolls: very obsessed with their outfits and accessories.

What is your favourite TV show?

Project Runway and Australian Story.

If you didn’t work in print, what would you be doing?

Something creative, innovative, entrepreneurial.

What really makes your blood boil?

Nasty people who have no empathy.

How do you like to unwind?

A 5km run with bay views, but I need about two weeks in Bali to fully unwind.

What is your all-time favourite piece of kit?

I have three. My beautiful shiny red VW GTi, my nude patent Louboutins, and my Prada purse given to me by my best friend.

What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?

Don’t design things just for the hell of it.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always knew I was good at writing stories and drawing, so I wanted to do something related to this.
