Screen expands Truepress portfolio

The company describes the web-fed Jet L350 UV as “a true single-pass UV inkjet label printing system.” It offers a linear speed of up to 50m/min, and can accommodate media, including film and foil, up to 350mm wide.

Tim Taylor, vice-president solutions and technology, Screen Europe said: “To provide the wider colour gamut often required for labels and packs, the Truepress Jet L350UV also supports unique high-definition inks and Screen’s owns proprietary high-resolution screening.”

Meanwhile, the introduction of the Jet W1632 UV flatbed device has been targeted at point-of-purchase and graphic display applications. With a production speed of 94m2 per hour, the wide-format machine is capable of printing on boards of up to 1,600×3,200mm (63x126in) and 50mm thick.

It supports the use of light cyan and light magenta and, according to Taylor, “makes it ideal to achieve the photographic quality for front- and back-lit display applications.”

On its stand, Screen is showing off the automation capabilities of its Equios workflow, from web-to-print functionality, MIS integration and adoption of variable data printing. The workflow, which builds on the success of Screen’s Trueflow, has job-tracking and reprint functions within the PDF workflow.

“Embedded within the workflow is the reprint function which could be through a toner machine in the case of short runs or through inkjet for longer runs,” added Taylor.

The Screen booth will also have a Truepress JetSX featuring the newly announced ability to print on to 0.6mm board. “We feel this will give us an edge in the production of short-run and personalised packaging,” said Taylor.

The company hopes to be able to announce its first JetSX European installation shortly after the show.

“Screen’s goal is for inkjet to represent 50% of our sales by the end of 2014,” concluded Taylor.
