On the Japanese press manufacturers’ stand at drupa (Hall 4/A11), the C2 machine made by Chinese firm MMT is being demonstrated on the end of a Shinohara 755 press.

The C2, which stands for cast and cure, uses a plastic film bearing a pattern to create the holographic effect in a UV-cured coating, which is then cured and the plastic film stripped from the printed sheet.

Shinohara is showing the MMT C2 running inline with the press taking sheets directly from the delivery, but it can also be configured as a stand-alone unit.

An offline approach is considered more common as the C2 runs at 5,000-8,000sph compared to the 15,000sph speed of the Shinohara 75 Series.

MMT’s cast and cure concept has also been displayed running on one of the units of a sheetfed press. Ryobi was operating a 755 B2+ machine configured in this way at Igas last autumn.

Shinohara’s display of added-value post-press working with its presses also includes a demonstration of the Cito RSP inline cutter creaser running on the last unit of a five-colour B3 Shinohara 52 Series machine.
