Strålfors signs biggest order yet for Xerox 490

The multi-million euro deal, which was completed at drupa yesterday, will allow Strålfors to produce full-colour, high-volume personalised products, such as bank statements and bills.

The kit investment is the second part of the company’s strategy to offer colour print and realise the benefits of personalised communication and transpromo marketing for its clients.

Strålfors technical director Håkan Larsson said: “If you want to communicate something important, put it on a monthly statement, because then it will get read.”

Per Samuelson, president and chief executive officer of the group, said the “two-prong strategy” involved initially installing five Xerox iGen3 digital presses before moving to invest in the Xerox 490 machines.

The equipment will be installed at the printer’s Finland and Sweden sites. Strålfors also has presence in Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, France and Switzerland.

The Xerox 490/980 can print at 600dpi resolution and can output up 69m per minute in both colour and mono.

Its kit incorporates non-contact flash fusing technology, which uses high-intensity xenon lamps to heat the toner with no direct heat or pressure contact with the substrate.

Ursula Burns, president of the Xerox Corporation, said: “Xerox’s advancements in innovation continue to shape the digital printing market and change the way companies interact with customers.”

She added: “Personalised messages produced on digital presses cut through the clutter, creating a high impact and high return.”
