Sydney print manager lands major contract with Diageo Australia

The logistics account for UK-owned drinks giant Diageo Australia was previously handled by Visy.

BPA said the contract "includes warehousing of all print, promotional and prize products for Diageo Australia as well as online ordering, kitting and co-packing, fulfillment and distribution of these materials nationally".

STI Lilyfield continues to produce most of the point-of-sale print. Diageo also orders a diverse range of POS products, from key rings to t-shirts to stubbie holders.

Production of printed labels for its drinks brands is primarily done at the bottling plants, though some premium packaging is thought to be outsourced.

Chief executive Garry Sandilands said BPA started work for Diageo Australia in October and managed several "large campaign rollouts for the client over the Christmas period".

"BPA won the contract chiefly on the merits of our experience in managing complex rollouts of fast-turnaround marketing campaigns through our print management business," said Sandilands.

"Our campaign management workflow technology and proven processes have enabled us to provide a service which is uniquely geared towards marketing-driven companies like Diageo Australia, who need to get their marketing and promotional products to market rapidly."

BPA would not discuss the length or value of the contract.

ProPrint would expect a warehousing and fulfillment deal of this nature to be worth millions, though it is thought Diageo has been rationalising its approach to POS in recent years.

BPA's other blue-chip clients include Subway, Vodafone and Suncorp.
