Trade supplier unveils paper rolls ‘breakthrough’

Lamson Paragon Group's rolls business has made life easier for end clients by changing the way rolls are measured.

Paper Rolls Australia is now measuring rolls in length rather than core size, said the group's shared services manager, Rodney Frost.

"We have changed the way a paper roll is specified and how it is named forever for the benefit of our partners and the end customer to see what their cost per receipt is – not per roll," he told ProPrint.

"It is industry standard that paper rolls are measured in width by height by core size. The overall length of the roll does not come into the equation.

"Paper rolls vary greatly in length depending on their origin. A box of 50 rolls measuring 80mm x 80mm x 12mm core could have a combined overall length of 2.9 kilometres from one manufacturer and 3.7 kilometres from another. That's an 800-metre difference."

Frost said end clients would no longer complain about their paper rolls unexpectedly running out if they were sold rolls that had clear and consistent lengths.
