Vehicle graphics enterprise turns motorists into mobile billboards

The business works by pairing advertisers with motorists, who are paid $40 a week to drive around with advertisements applied to the sides and back windscreen of their car.

Signrider managing director Dave McGree had the idea while stuck in traffic in Sydney. “I thought there must be a better way to get something out off this.

“I have a marketing background and I’m looking for ways that companies can reach their target market more effectively. So I combined the two and it stemmed from there,” he added.

“We have 85 installation locations around Australia. When you sign up as a driver, we find out your preferred installation location and it takes around 30 minutes for the installation process.”

McGree is working with Sign-A-Rama North Manly, which is bringing the franchise group’s nationwide network to bear.

Geoff Boyden, the owner of the North Manly store, said: “How we fit into the equation is that we do the design, we print the graphics and we install the graphics.”

Jobs are printed on the Roland DG Soljet Pro II at Boyden’s site then distributed to one of Sign-A-Rama’s 85 stores around the country, depending on the driver’s preference.
