virtual.drupa opens with 17,000 registered visitors

With a physical drupa unable to be held due to the ongoing fallout of the COVID pandemic, the next best thing – a broad ranging virtual.drupa – is now underway.

virtual.drupa runs for the rest of this week providing insights, industry trends and technological innovations for the print and packaging industries.

Importantly, for Australian audiences all the videos of the presentations can be viewed at a more convenient time by visiting the on demand Video Library on the website.

The trade event features exhibitors including Bobst, DuPont de Nemours, Electronics For Imaging, Esko, Fujifilm, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, HP, IST Metz, Koenig & Bauer, Kodak, Komori, Konica Minolta, Kurz, Kyocera, Landa, Siemens, Stora Enso, Windmöller & Hölscher, Xeikon and many more.

On the first day of the show around 17,000 registered visitors from 155 nations benefited from 660 minutes of discussion in the Conference Area with another 930 minutes produced in the Live Web Sessions.

Networking was also performing strongly with visitors using the matchmaking tool to meet up with 212 exhibitors from 45 different countries.

virtual.drupa Director Print Technologies, Sabine Geldermann, said:

“We are pleased that the interaction within the community has started so positively. The impressive range of valuable knowledge transfer in the Conference Area and the Exhibition Space, as well as the exchange with business partners via matchmaking in the Networking Plaza, are being excellently received,” Geldermann said.

How it all started

drupa president, Claus Bolza-Schünemann opened the event, with a keynote presented by Wall Street Journal best selling author, Michael Gale.

Other key note addresses throughout day one were on topics including Artificial Intelligence and the Circular Economy.

Until Friday, the focus will additionally be on “Connected Consumer” and “Platform Economy”. The event days will be opened by key note speakers James Sommerville, Gabrielle Walker and Michael Gale, who bring special expertise in the areas of design thinking, sustainability and digitalisation respectively.

Asking the big questions

The interactive conference programmes are all designed to focus on the important questions impacting the print and packaging industries such as:

  • What role does AI play in the print and packaging industry?
  • How can workflows and processes be optimised thanks to digitalisation?
  • How does product design drive innovation?
  • What role will the circular economy play in the industry?

Visitors from other time zones who were unable to follow the presentations live will have the opportunity to access the sessions 24/7 on demand via the Video Library and then network with exhibitors for a personal exchange via Matchmaking in the Networking Plaza. It is still possible to register for participation at virtual.drupa.

It is not too late to register, to do so follow this link.
