Blue Star acquired the commercial printing client list while Hannapak bought the client list for the packaging side of the business.
Administrator Taylor Woodings announced that Chippendale and Blue Star have signed an “exclusive agreement” that will see Chippendale’s printing clients “receive continuity of service from Blue Star’s full service offering including offset and digital printing, mailing and fulfilment, design, paper engineering, print management and web offset printing”.
“Chippendale is working collaboratively with Blue Star to smoothly transition customer files, artwork, and background information, to ensure Chippendale’s customers receive ongoing supply through one of the region’s leading print companies,” administrators said.
Taylor Woodings senior manager Peter Allen told ProPrint that a “very similar deal” had been signed between Chippendale and Hannapak for the packaging clients.
Allen also claimed that no deal had yet been done for the remaining assets of Chippendale, including the company’s premises and equipment, but that “negotiations were ongoing”.
“From the national advertisements that were placed for the business, we’ve received a lot of interest in those remaining assets,” he said.
“We’ll start to talk to those people today, and we’re confident that those outcomes will be achieved.”
A creditors meeting for Chippendale took place in Sydney last Friday (30 April). Allen described the meeting as “fairly-straightforward”, with Taylor Woodings confirmed as administrators for Chippendale.
Allen said it was “too early” to comment on the circumstances that caused Chippendale to enter administration, but said that these matters would be discussed in a report to be issued to creditors ahead of their next meeting later this month.
