Brindley replaces Dehing as local head of Agfa Graphics

Brindley (pictured left) stepped up from his position as Agfa’s southern region manager following Dehing’s promotion to vice-president of Agfa Europe.

New Australia and New Zealand boss Brindley started out as an apprentice at Vega Press in 1987, and worked at Edwards Dunlop Paper before joining Agfa Graphics in 1996.

Dehing (right), who took the top local job three years ago, said he would look to “do on a bigger scale what I have been doing here” in the European role.

According to Dehing, highlights of his time in Australia included increasing Agfa’s share of the inkjet market from 5% three years ago to around 20% today as well as managing to grow market share in commercial sheetfed pre-press from 35% to 40% during the GFC.

In 2010, Agfa shipped $8 million worth of inkjet kit in just three sales: one Dotrix machine to Le Mac in Sydney, as well as an M-Press to Styleprint and another M-Press to Active Display, both in Melbourne.

Other notable wins include a second M-Press en route to Styleprint as well as the first Jeti device installed in Australia since Agfa’s acquisition of Gandi Innovations in November 2009

Brindley said: “My biggest challenge is to sustain the work we have done over the past three years and continue to develop our pool of people.”

Dehing said: “I’m happy that instead of sending another ex-pat from Europe, they chose someone local. It is motivating for the staff.”

Brindley’s successor has yet to be announced.
