A site on the Gold Coast will form the new home for the Queensland businesses of Focus Press, as owner Mark Shergill fuses his acquisitions. Dynamic Print Communication, bought out of receivership last April, will join Acacia Ridge business PurePrint, which Shergill picked up in June. The two will operate from a 10-year-old 1600sqm facility in Molendinar, with all staff to make the transition, and former Focus Press kit, picked up at auction, to play with.

Mark Shergill, owner of Focus Print Group
Shergill says his Focus Print Group has managed to keep most PurePrint clients on board and with plenty of capacity the operation is promising. He says, “The site is newer, well organised and gives us good scope to grow the Queensland side of the business, and service the clients we maintained at PurePrint.” Production will be led by a 2007 Komori Lithrone LS1040P 10 colour press snagged from the Focus auctions at its reserve price of $455,000, and includes some former Focus finishing gear. Shergill has sold off PurePrint’s Komori Lithrone 440 four colour offset press overseas and will maintain the PurePrint Komori Lithrone 526 five colour at the new site for the time being. He says further investment in kit next year is likely as business ramps up. The PurePrint buy came with two big ongoing contracts with civil manufacturing clients. The move is to be completed by the end of the year.
