Focus Print buys Sydney Allen

Focus Print Group has bought troubled sheetfed printer Sydney Allen for an undisclosed amount, the company set to retain its name and trade as one of the many divisions of Focus.

Focus confirms the deal was finalised and papers were signed last night, and Sydney Allen has commenced operations under its new parent as of this morning.

Operations manager for Focus Rohan Singh told ProPrint Sydney Allen’s managing director John Mangos will stay with the business under the new ownership.

Mangos is set to assume the role of operations manager for Sydney Allen, and some 20 staff will remain on board following the sale. The printer will continue to trade from its premises in Condell Park, Sydney.

Singh says Sydney Allen’s customers and client list will not be affected, and as of this morning it is business as usual.

Focus is also retaining all of the equipment, including A1 presses which Focus also operates in its Melbourne and Queensland locations.

According to owner Mark Shergill, his print empire was on the lookout for an A1 machine for some time and the deal secures him two Heidelbergs, a 10-colour and six-colour with coater and an assortment of finishing kit.

Shergill is well versed in acquisition strategy, as the deal follows a trail of business purchases made by Focus including Whitehorse Digital and Printing and AP & Prior Print.

Mascot Printing, which entered into a business licence agreement to take over Sydney Allen’s operations, ceased its involvement with the company following Focus’ purchase.

Focus has operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Canberra, and comprises an empire of businesses BPA, Pureprint, LPS, Print Warehouse. Whitehorse Print, Aaction Plastics and Rainbow Printing.
