Fuji Xerox joins Carbon Neutral Adelaide

Fuji Xerox Australia has been named a founding partner of Carbon Neutral Adelaide, a community effort to reduce the city’s carbon emissions, provide leadership and encourage others to act in addressing climate change.

It follows on from South Australia’s commitment to have net zero emissions by 2050 and the UN’s goal of limiting global temperature increase to well below two degrees Celsius.

As a founding partner, Fuji Xerox Australia says it will identify local opportunities to improve its footprint and contribute to a sustainable, prosperous low carbon economy.

Mark Richards, regional manager South Australia, Fuji Xerox Australia says local activity will align with the five action pathways outlined by Carbon Neutral Adelaide and includes committing Fuji Xerox’s Adelaide offices to joining the CitySwitch Green Office initiative.

“The world is rapidly moving away from its reliance on fossil fuels to drive our economy and prosperity. This effort is about finding new ways to innovate, collaborate, commercialise and accelerate Adelaide’s transition to carbon neutrality and strengthening Australia’s reputation for building smart, green, liveable cities.

“Sustainability is a core part of the Fuji Xerox ethos and is embedded in every facet of our business operations and solutions provided to our customers. We are proud to serve as a Founding Partner in Carbon Neutral Adelaide and hope that more businesses will follow our lead in joining the effort.”

Fuji Xerox has been a United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) LEAD company since 2010, and a signatory to the UNGC since 2002. It has a commitment to zero waste to landfill from devices, parts, and consumables collected from customers – a commitment Fuji Xerox Australia says it has achieved since 2012.

The company says it has consistently met its targets for carbon emissions reductions since 2013 and has set a long-term target of a 30 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 2020 based on 2005 levels.

Martin Haese, Lord Mayor, Adelaide says, “Achieving carbon neutrality is an ambitious goal and one that cannot be achieved without the energy, commitment and creativity of leading businesses and organisations. We are thrilled to have the support of Fuji Xerox Australia and look forward to working with the local team to learn, collaborate and influence action.”
