Gunns to sign pulp mill deal with Sodra: reports

The Australian is claiming that Sodra has commissioned a report on the Bell Bay project from Sydney-based consultancy Evans and Peck, which will be presented to Sodra tomorrow.

The report is believed to comprise the opinions and research of some of the project’s opponents, including the Wilderness Society and the Australian Conservation Foundation.

Sodra was one of the names put forward when it was revealed that Gunns was searching for partners for the pulp mill project. The company has reiterated its claim that it expects to have a deal announced by the end of this month.

Local environmental groups have also said they will target Sodra in their native state should the company decide to invest in the pulp mill.
