The Lamson Group CEO Rodney Frost is participating in his 17th Vinnies CEO Sleepout in Sydney in June.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a one-night event held on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year. Hundreds of CEOs, business owners, as well as community and government leaders sleep outdoors to support the many Australians who are experiencing homelessness and people at risk of homelessness.
In 2024, 1591 CEOs, business, and community Leaders participated by sleeping out at one of the 13 events held across the country or via a livestream – raising more than $8.6 million. Over the years, Frost’s fundraising efforts have been so successful he has raised a total of $225,637. This year, he is aiming to raise $20,000.
“I am honoured to participate in my 17th Vinnies CEO Sleepout, coinciding with the event’s 20th anniversary in 2025,” Frost told Sprinter.
“This milestone is especially meaningful as I reflect on my friendship with Bernard Fehon OAM, the visionary founder of this impactful initiative.
“As an ambassador for the CEO Sleepout, my goal has been to raise awareness about the multifaceted issue of homelessness within our industry and beyond. Collaborating with our partners, we’ve engaged in extensive efforts to support individuals experiencing homelessness both in Australia and the Philippines.
“My commitment is deeply personal. My father experienced homelessness as a young man; all he needed was one opportunity to transform his life, build a family, and establish a business. This experience fuels my dedication to offering others that same ‘hand up’. I am steadfast in ensuring that every cent raised is directed to frontline programs that provide tangible assistance to those in need, mirroring the opportunity my father once received,” Frost said.
“Funds raised through the CEO Sleepout are pivotal in launching innovative housing and homelessness support programs, sustaining essential services like food vans and emergency support, expanding existing programs to ensure accessible accommodation, meals, and emergency assistance, and advocating for policy changes aimed at reducing homelessness.
“Participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout is more than a symbolic gesture; it’s a commitment to actionable change. By confronting the realities of homelessness firsthand, we can foster greater understanding, empathy, and drive collective efforts toward sustainable solutions,” said Frost.
“I challenge the leaders of our industry to come and join me and get a taste of what it’s like to sleep rough.”
Last year, Frost organised a 24-hour charity golf event, One Day, which raised $250,000 to fund cancer research. One Day 2025 is slated for Tuesday 28 October 2025 at Castle Hill Country Club in Norwest, NSW.
