Newstyle wins ‘key accounts’ thanks to green credentials

Part of the Adelaide firm's environmental offering is the Fujifilm Luxel V-8 platesetter and Pro-V plates it installed early in 2012, said business systems manager Rick Dowsett.

He told ProPrint the platesetter required less water and fewer chemicals than the previous Fujifilm platesetter Newstyle had used.

"We'd previously used Fujifilm and had a good run in terms of reliability and quality. We were happy with the previous product and they offered something environmentally and in terms of water savings," he said.

"We've estimated that we've saved around half-a-million litres this year. It continually recycles the chemistry. The previous one used about eight litres per plate, whereas this one uses virtually nothing."

The 80-staff operation won the Zero Waste SA Award for Improved Resource Efficiency at this year's PICAs.

Newstyle also claimed a gold medal for 'commercial posters, showcards, card constructions & mobiles'.
