Traditional heavyweight Offset Alpine Printing has become an even greater PICAs threat after winning its first digital gold medal.
The IPMG firm won the New South Wales Printer of the Year gong for the most successful entrant in 2013 after pocketing 10 gold medals. That included a breakthrough digital win in the 'book printing – digital' category.

Offset Alpine also won three gold medals and Best in Show at this year's Fuji Xerox PIXI Awards for the Asia-Pacific.
General manager Michael Bartlett credited Offset Alpine's staff for its success.
"Each day our employees are consistently aiming for the highest standards, whether that be in safety, quality or customer service and these awards are a great recognition of those efforts," he told ProPrint.
Bartlett said that Offset Alpine had invested in digital technology in response to customer demand and to complement its web and sheetfed offerings.

The other big winner at last Friday night's PICAs was Momento Pro. The Sydney photobook specialist won five golds and the inaugural NSW Printer of the Year judges award, which is given to the year's best print job across all categories.
Central Coast firm Evolve Printing also took home five gold medals. Collotype Labels Griffith won four golds, while Rawson Graphics and STI Lilyfield each claimed three.
Six companies each won two gold medals: Allkotes, Avon Graphics, Green & Gold Printing, Impact International, Oxygen and Statewide Design & Print.
There were also eight one-off winners: Acorn Press, Bright Print Group, Carbon8, Lindsay Yates Group, Mercury Creative Print & Design, RDA Creative, Sony DADC and Watermarx Graphics.
