“The Brumby government recognises the importance of the printing industry and the major role it plays in enabling other industries to operate,” he told the gathered audience, which included PacPrint chairman Alastair Hadley, GAMAA executive officer Karen Goldsmith, GAMAA president Mitch Mulligan and PIAA president Jim Atkinson.

“PacPrint is one of the largest expos ever held in Victoria. It is a spotlight on the industry and the significant contribution it makes to the Victorian economy.”
Minister Pakula pointed to the global financial dilemma facing every business and the pace of technology change as major factors influencing the industry’s future.
“You have here an opportunity for five days to discuss the future of your industry, and to explore its current possibilities in this significant showcase,” he commented.
PacPrint 09 chairman Alastair Hadley declared to the crowd at the opening, “Thank God you’re here … PacPrint 09 is the culmination of about two years of preparation. All the people involved are passionate about the industry, and all the exhibitors have committed a lot of time and money to their exhibits.
“This is truly an international exhibition.”
