The event, which took place last week on 2-3 June, brought in more than 400 clients and guests. The press itself was officially launched by state MP Judy Spence (pictured, centre).
QLM first announced its purchase of the granite-based press in April, saying it was hoping to expand its offering into wide-format labelling with the buy.
QLM is also hoping to improve its environmental performance with the press, as the ECS 340 has a comparatively small 11-metre web length, reducing paper waste, and uses UV ‘cold lamp’ technology, which reduces electricity use.
The machine’s granite core is said to be a more a sustainable option than the traditional steel.
The company is also aiming to reduce waste levels with the use of a Turret Rewinder and Waste Extraction Unit, which was also on display for the first time last week.
The ECS 340 is the third Gallus press installed by QLM. Gallus vice-president Ferdinand Reusch, who also attended the launch, said that the Brisbane printer “has grown up so much in such a small time, yet still remains like doing business with a friend”.
