Three weeks to go until FESPA Global Print Expo kicks off in Berlin

The countdown is on now for the opening of the four day FESPA Global Print Expo and European Sign Expo which is taking place at Messe Berlin from May 31 to June 3, 2022.

COVID rules for Germany’s event industry have also eased meaning the trade show can proceed without restrictions on visitor numbers or density, social distancing or the requirement to wear face masks.

A strong contingent of Australian printers and suppliers are expected to attend the show, breaking a long COVID-induced drought for overseas travel and foreign trade show attendance.

FESPA Australia is welcoming FESPA A/NZ members to the Club FESPA Lounge on the first day of the show. The Club FESPA Lounge provides a space for FESPA members to network and relax away from the show floor. For information about accessing Club FESPA and attending special events please contact: membership@fespaaustralia.org.au

Some 340 global exhibitors are now confirmed to attend the show and among them are key industry players who were unable to participate in the 2021 show including Epson and Fujifilm.

Durst (Hall: 4.2 Booth B30) is the Platinum Sponsor of the show and is offering a free entry ticket for visitors. To claim your free ticket, click here. Durst has already hinted about a new superwide innovation for its P5 platform which will be on show in Berlin.

Fujifilm is planning its biggest demonstration in five years at FESPA Berlin with the new wide format Acuity range featuring as part of its ‘Blueprint Live’ concept in Hall 2.2 Booth: C30.

Other key exhibitors include: Agfa, Canon, Dupont, eProductivity Software, HP, EFI, Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems, Mimaki, Mutoh, Neschen, Kornit, Orafol, Summa, swissQprint, Sun Chemical (DIC), Vanguard Digital Printing Systems and Zund.

Excitement is building for a variety of new innovation which will be unveiled at FESPA.

Agfa has signalled it will unveil the Jeti Tauro H3300 HS LED hybrid inkjet printer and the Avinci CX3200 dye-sub printer, while Avery Dennison will be highlighting a new PVC-free digitally printable wrapping film. Brother will also be showing the GTXPro, a new product in the GTX industrial direct-to-garment printer range.

EFI will demonstrating the new Reggiani Terra Silver entry-level industrial textile printer, while Mimaki will be showing the 330 series of wide format inkjet printers.

Head of FESPA Global Print Expo, Michael Ryan, said: “Excitement is building as we get closer to the event, and the recent news that COVID restrictions have been lifted in German venues has delivered another strong surge in exhibitor interest. With 340 confirmed exhibitors, we’ll be opening a show with almost double the number of companies that were present in Amsterdam last year, so visitors can be sure of finding the products and business solutions they need to fuel their recovery and growth.”

A comprehensive live event programme is also planned for visitors to enjoy.

This includes the all-new Sustainability Spotlight conference area and Associations Pavilion applications showcase, as well as the Printeriors interior décor feature and Wrap Masters vehicle wrapping event.

COVID Restrictions

FESPA has confirmed that COVID restrictive measures for the German event industry were lifted from 1st April 2022, enabling the live FESPA events in Berlin to go ahead without restrictions on visitor numbers or density, social distancing or the requirement to wear face masks.

“In line with the relaxation of COVID restrictive measures on the German event industry, there are no longer any testing requirements or checks to enter Messe Berlin or the FESPA exhibition. Participants do not need to show that they are vaccinated, recently recovered or have tested negative for COVID-19 to enter the exhibition,” a statement relating to COVID rules from FESPA says.

Visitors can also rely on enhanced cleaning regimes and prominent hand sanitising facilities throughout the Messe Berlin halls. To reduce physical touchpoints, visitors will be encouraged to hold their entry badges on their phones.

“Without COVID-19 restrictions and with a first-class exhibitor line-up, we can get back to delivering the full experience print and sign professionals expect from a FESPA event”, Ryan said.

“The mood in our community towards live events is buoyant and that’s mirrored in pre-registration. The vibe is good, the appetite for innovation and connection is strong, and we can’t wait to energise print’s recovery.”
