TMA CEO confirms ‘business as usual’ for print operations following cyber incident

TMA Group of Companies executive chairman and CEO Anthony Karam says it’s “business as usual”, confirming to Sprinter TMA Group’s print operations remain unaffected by a recent cyber incident.

Karam said media reports of a cyber security event on TMA Group of Companies were “inaccurate”.

Karam clarified that a subsidiary of TMA Group of Companies, TMA Technology, had been impacted by a “network outage and a cyber incident”.

TMA Group of Companies is an Australian-owned multinational print, print management, technology and logistics company.

TMA Technology provides equipment and digital solutions to the Australian parking and security industry.

“TMA Technology, a subsidiary of TMA, had a network outage and a cyber incident,” Karam said.

“It’s business as usual for our manufacturing and warehousing operations.”

TMA Group of Companies also released a statement, saying, “Parts of our network, outside of our manufacturing and warehousing operations, were impacted by an outage recently. Our standard response to any network outage is to immediately engage external advisors to undertake a forensic review of our IT system. They determined that our network was accessed by an unauthorised party. The investigation is ongoing, but we do not anticipate our clients being directly impacted by this incident”.

TMA Group was established in 1982 in Sydney and “has grown steadily into one of the largest fully integrated print and print management companies in Australia with offices in Asia and North America” according to its website.

TMA Group’s 12 companies provide products and services to industries including airlines, airports, FMCG, manufacturing, retail, higher education, telecoms, government, packaging, logistics, and more. It also operates manufacturing facilities in Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

In March 2023, TMA acquired the catalogue and magazine (heatset) division of Marrickville-based printer Spotpress.

That same year in November TMA acquired Presfast Pty Ltd, a large independent printing business specialising in retail communications.
