TRMC/PVCA merger to form largest association across the industry: Matt Aitken

Following the announcement that the Real Media Collective (TRMC) and the Print & Visual Communications Association of Australia (PVCA) are intending to merge, TRMC chairman and IVE Group CEO Matt Aitken has said that the combined entity will form the largest association in the print and visual communications industry.

“[The merger brings] the two largest industry associations for the paper, print, mail, packaging and publishing sectors to form one ‘super industry body’. It will form the largest industry association across the industry, leveraging from the foundation of the existing PVCA Registered Organisation authority and the programs, growth and membership of TRMC,” he said.

Aitken mentioned that the move creates a unified voice of the industry.

“Our industry needs united leadership and a strengthened association. The merging of the two leading industry associations into a ‘super body’ is a very important step in achieving just that,” he mentioned.

“These discussions have been in place for several months, with both boards working through a rigorous due diligence process. I firmly believe it is the best news for the industry and will leave all members, PVCA and TRMC, in a better position as we finalise the merger details and commence an enriched service delivery of programs and outcomes for our industry.

“We envisage any disruption in our partnership in the immediate period and look forward to a continued relationship with [our members]. As we move through the transitional phase, we will be in contact with [our members] to ensure you are well briefed and included in this important journey for our association.

“This announcement will see our association stronger and more impactful for our industry.”

Kellie Northwood, current TRMC CEO, will take up the executive role at the PVCA and lead the team, with all TRMC resources coming across into the merged body.

Following the Special General Meeting and Member Briefing on Friday, 6 May, the association will complete the constitutional process, implement joint board representation, commence a re-naming and positioning project with its combined members and develop the key priorities for industry in the 12 months ahead.
