Vale: Fujifilm BI Australia’s Harry Kontos

Fujifilm Business Innovation Australia pre-sales senior analyst Harry Kontos passed away on 12 November.

Kontos started his career in the printing industry in 1987, when he joined Ultra Graphics, located in the southern suburbs of Melbourne, as an apprentice in graphic reproduction.

His role mainly consisted of PMT Scanning, film (combining conventional and electronic), retouching on Apple Macs and digital pagination artwork using Scitex assemble systems.

He then became a specialist for colour management and delivered training and consulting for Agfa Gaevert.

Kontos stated on his LinkedIn profile that most of his eight years with Agfa was abroad, in Belgium-Mortsel, and he was fortunate to be part of the colour management development team, as well as the Apogee PDF workflow group in supporting the CTP print industry.

He also worked for Kodak KPG as a colour specialist for the Asian Pacific region, which involved implementing workflows and business processes, as well as delivering solution training and support to the graphic communications market.

After that, he joined Fujifilm Australia and has been with the company for more than 20 years, holding numerous roles in technical pre- and post-sales, creating and delivering client training strategies and content, and pre-sales and post-sales for the sales and CSO organisations.

His most recent role was pre-sales senior analyst at Fujifilm Business Innovation Australia.

Kontos also held extensive experience with Fujifilm’s digital printing equipment and wide format printer products. He was involved with customer installations and delivered training to operators and sales organisations in helping customers build and improve volume.

Fujifilm Business Innovation Australia issued a statement following Kontos’ passing, which said, “We are devastated by the passing of Harry Kontos, who was a beloved member of our Melbourne team for the past 20 years. He will be missed by many across the Fujifilm Group family.

“Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. We are giving Harry’s family the space and privacy they need, in addition to support for our staff processing this loss.

“As this is a private matter for Harry’s family, we will not be providing further comment.”
