Innovative print job wins $20,000 annual postcard prize

Paper-Go-Round claimed the $20,000 prize for a postcard it produced to promote Melbourne Water's '10,000 Raingardens' campaign. The 'seeded card' was designed for planting.

Avant Card's sixth annual Postcard of the Year award was held on 30 May at Madame Tussaud's in Sydney. Nudie and Perth Festival were the other place-getters.

The postcard advertising company created the awards "to promote and inspire creativity and innovation in postcard advertising and the world of print technology".

Managing director Pat Mackle told ProPrint that Paper-Go-Round had not only produced the winning postcard but also made the special seed stock by hand.

"[SOS Print & Media Group] do the majority of our work – except for some highly specialised printing which we either work with SOS to find a supplier or contact a supplier to deal with directly. Specialist printing includes the seeded cards, lenticular cards, Reflectakote and sticker cards."

SOS sales manager Kelly Bourke said: "SOS enjoys a very strong relationship with Avant Card and work together as partners.

"We enjoy the challenge of ensuring all the end customers of Avant are happy with the print production every run. It is always interesting and innovative work to produce."
