Mimaki unveils UJF-6042 small-format UV flatbed

The new machine, which features an A2 print bed, can print six colours up to a maximum resolution of 1,800dpi.

The new model doubles the bed size available on Mimaki’s existing UJF-3042 LED UV printer.

It was launched at Photokina last month, and DGS Mimaki said it expected to start shipping the device to Australian customers in February 2013.

According to the manufacturer, the machine can also print using white and clear inks while the A2 bed enables the simultaneous short-run production of two facing A3 photobook pages

The UJF-6042 uses Mimaki’s LH-100 inkset, which is claimed to feature strong adhesion properties while the machine can also use an automatic primer, which can apply primer to specific areas of the print.

The machine can also be commissioned with the manufacturer’s LF-100 and LF-200 flexible inks.

In addition, the new Mimaki model comes specified with its RasterLink 6 RIP software, which features spot colour replacement capabilities and the ability to simultaneously print three layers onto transparent substrates.

Distributed in the UK and Ireland through the Hybrid Services reseller network, the new machine will be available early next year.

Hybrid Services industrial products sales manager Mike Lewis said: “Over and above the ability to run twice the size of media than the UJF-3042, the increase in quality to 1800dpi and a minimum variable dot size of 4 picolitres ensures an extremely high print quality that should impress.”
